Is kratom used for pain management or an opioid substitute?

Kratom has been in the news a lot lately. A mandatory recall by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been made. This herb is used to manage pain and opioid withdrawal, but the government states that that is actually used for its stimulant effects and as an opioid substitute. Your thoughts?

Interesting! I’d love to know the answer. Funny how Kratom isn’t listed in any of my herbal books, even the old ones. This makes me think it could be a poison.
